Loneliness is something that eventually catches up with all digital nomads. No matter how cool the new place you are in is, or how fabulous the food is, at some point all of us feel lonely.Â
While unpleasant, loneliness isn’t all bad. It’s a symptom of how much you care. If you had no one in your life worth caring about, you wouldn’t ever feel lonely.
That being said, there are several things you can do to fight the loneliness of being a digital nomad.
Those things include:
- Allowing yourself to be changed by the people you meet. This way you will always carry them with you while you’re apart.
- Reach out to other like-minded digital nomads. (Group trips and Facebook groups are fantastic places to meet fellow travelers!)
- Connect with the locals.
- Allow others into your family. Family is built, not born.
- Stay connected with friends and family even though you are physically apart.
Traveling is one of the most rewarding things you can do in this life. Consciously build a community around you will make the whole experience that much more enjoyable.
