Designing a website (or anything for that matter) does not happen in a vacuum. Creation and design require inspiration. As website designers, Monica and I love looking through and analyzing other businesses’ websites. We love to talk about the beauty behind their design, the functionality and user experience, and the strategy that was put into it.
We are all about helping business owners create a website that transforms their online presence so it reflects the confident and competent business owners they are! So, in the spirit of inspiration and better website building, we’ve put together a list of 10 of our favorite websites with the best website design! Each website below combines design and charm to create something unique and special that we wanted to highlight.
If you’re getting ready to build a website of your own, our goal is to provide this list as inspiration and guidance on what to include on your own website. If you are like us and you’re here just for the art, we hope you enjoy browsing these website examples and celebrating the diversity and creativity behind each one!
1. Solana
Right off the back Solana captures your attention with a hero section that tells a story. You learn about what they sell (shoes), what’s unique about them (they are handcrafted), and where they are made (Spain). This alone was enough to draw us in and make us want to see more. But then they follow it up by informing us that they were featured in Forbes. Now you have the beginning of a story that is calling us in, as well as some social proof before we ever start scrolling.
Preston is a life coach whose website is spunky and fun. While we love his design, he made it onto our top ten because of his final CTA. CTA’s (Calls to action) are SO important in the conversion from a viewer to a paying customer. When done right, they create urgency while giving the viewers permission to purchase what you are offering. Preston’s website did this in the cutest way possible. It’s interactive, fun, and very clearly shows you what you will be feeling if you choose to work (or not work) with him.
3. Shifting the Culture Wealth Partners
The very first thing that caught our attention about this organization was how vivid and clear the name of the business is. From the name alone you know so much about their mission statement. They are out to shift the culture around who can be wealthy. When scrolling through their website you find TONS of photos and videos of people living the dream. You see a bunch of people (who you automatically assume to be clients) who are smiling and thoroughly enjoying life. Subconsciously we are all drawn to smiling people. Scrolling through this website leaves you with tons of hope and confidence that with their help, you too can be wealthy. Plus, they follow up each image of success with clear actionable steps to get there.
We absolutely adore Paige’s about page. The main focus of her about page is her ideal audience. She speaks directly to them instead of just filling the page with stuff about her. Now… I know what you are thinking. Isn’t that what an about page is for? Yes… and no. It’s important to let your audience get to know you. Consumers are looking to connect with a face behind the business. But more than that they are looking to connect with your purpose. Paige’s about page is a perfect example of what a healthy blend of business strategy and sharing about yourself should look like. While you can find fun information about herself and her team, there is also a big focus on the mission of her business and how you (the consumer) can benefit from working with her.
Morgan Potter is a fantastic branding photographer. She is adorable, charismatic, and passionate. Her website made it to our top ten because of her genius copy. Good design is important, but you need more than a pretty website to sell your services. There HAS to be a strong strategy behind everything you do in your business. Your website copy is no exception. Morgan’s copy is easy to read, fun, relatable, and oozing with personality. Reading through her website gives you a crystal clear glimpse into her personality. As you are reading about her services, you feel like you are getting to know who Morgan is. While she is still selling you her services, you feel like you are hanging out with a friend. She builds know, like, and trust on every page of her website.
6. Dr. Jennifer Finlayson-Fife
Jennifer’s website is a great example of how to be incredibly clear about who you serve and how you serve them. In her case, it’s “LDS couples and individuals”, and what she teaches them is “1) how to strengthen their relationships, 2) overcome relational and sexual roadblocks, and 3) increase their capacity for intimacy, love, and sexual expression”. Anyone visiting her site who fits this description and wants what she teaches knows they’ve found the right place. What do they do now? Jennifer answers that question too with her “3 Ways to Get Started” section directly beneath her initial section. She makes it clear there are 3 ways to learn from her and links to each one. How easy is that??
A key component of visual storytelling is selecting the right images. The story that My Fitness Pal is telling us is all about our physical health journey, specifically surrounding food and eating habits. My Fitness Pal sends us on that journey before we even read the first word on their site. We see a beautiful layout of healthy food and can at least guess what they’re all about. Their header that stands out on the page confirms it. And if you want to begin eating “more mindfully” with My Fitness Pal? Well, you simply click on the “start for free” button that stands out boldly on the page!
My favorite thing about the Honestly Adoption website is its focus on the transformation of its visitors. People visiting their site want to “thrive as a parent” and “transform their family”. However, they currently feel “overwhelmed and isolated”. They spell out very clearly where their visitors currently are in their journey toward becoming “the best parent possible”, as well as how they’re feeling. They then paint a picture of success for them. The visitor’s journey is clear and well defined.
Haven’t heard of Traveling Jackie yet?? She’s an adventure addict, trip leader, and explorer. She hosts group trips and shares her travel experiences with the world on her blog. She’s full of vivacity and life, and her personality really shines through. She’s done an amazing job curating a brand that fits her and her business vibes and ties it all together nicely in a cohesive and consistent way throughout her site. And if you’re interested in reading her blogs or joining a trip with her, doing so is super easy! She has highlighted her call to action (CTA) buttons in an accent color that contrasts with the rest of her site, yet fits together beautifully.
10. Bench
Bench cuts right to the chase in explaining what they’re all about. As a business owner, do you need help with anything finance related? Bench is the place to go. If you have any hesitation about Bench or working with them, they address that by adding social proof. Social proof is a great way to put clients and customers at ease about working with you. Bench offers social proof by including great quotes from other business owners.
Bench also establishes its authority as a professional bookkeeping service by talking about its partners; brands and business that you already know and love. They use powerful action words when talking about their unique value. With words like “expert” and “powerful”, no wonder you’re drawn to them as a leader in the industry!
